Enjoying the journey
One of my favorite beaches is a 45 minute drive away. I enjoy the drive because it leads me to being at the beach. I pop in some music or a podcast, and I’m excited and ready to go.
I’m not upset when I hit traffic or have to take a detour. I don’t stop, give up, and turn around when it’s taken longer than 45 minutes.
I don’t think I’m not meant to be at the beach that day. I accept that all this is part of getting to the beach and enjoying the beach.
It’s the same thing with your goals and dreams.
You’ll hit obstacles in the journey there: road blocks, traffic, poor weather conditions. You might feel tired and stop to take a break on the side of the road. You might get hungry and exit the freeway to grab a bite.
But if you believe that everything you’re going through is part of what will get you there, there’s peace in the journey. There’s no frantic energy trying to make things happen. There’s no arguing about how things should be different than they are. There’s no beating yourself up over why you’re not there yet.
There’s so much of who you are in your journey to celebrate now, to acknowledge now, to credit now, before you get there. Don’t miss it because of your intolerance to be here with what is. Don’t miss it because you’re in a rush to get there.
You’ll get there.
Do you believe it?
